
Except for a brief plateau between 1992 and 1995, the costs of the TTC per passenger trip and per kilometre have steadily increased in the past ten years, far more than the consumer price index increase of approximately 33% during that same period. Since the province had made it clear that it will no longer subsidize the service, such dramatic escalation of costs will not be possible in the future.
